What is a rock spreading service?
A rock spreading service is a crew that moves, spreads, and grades delivered landscape material — rock, decomposed granite, dirt, or mulch — into a uniform layer, without you hiring a full landscaping company or renting equipment. It’s the labor half of a rock project: the supplier sells the tons, we turn the tons into a finished yard.
Every RockSpread visit includes moving the pile, machine-spreading with a compact skid steer, hand-raking around plants and edges, grading to a uniform ~2″ depth, and sweeping off the driveway and street. Spread-only work welcomes any supplier’s delivery — we don’t care where you bought the rock. We also spread dirt, topsoil, fill, and mulch, everywhere in greater Phoenix: Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Queen Creek, and San Tan Valley.

Typical turnaround is one day (2–3 days standard). The compact machine fits through a standard side gate, so backyards are no problem.

How much does it cost to have rock spread?
Flat rate, by tonnage: $475 for up to 5 tons, ~$700 for 6–10 tons, ~$950 for 11–15 tons, and a custom quote at 16+ tons — never hourly. That covers the machine, the crew, hand-raking, grading to ~2″, and cleanup, whether the rock came from us or any supplier you chose.
How fast can you spread 10 tons of rock?
A 10-ton pile is typically spread in about half a day once we’re on site, and typical scheduling turnaround is one day from your quote (2–3 days standard). Compare that with roughly 150 wheelbarrow loads by hand — most homeowners who start a 10-ton pile solo are still looking at it the next weekend.

My rock was dumped on the street and I have an HOA deadline — can you help fast?
Yes — this is one of our most common calls. Text a photo of the pile to (602) 918-5369, we quote within the hour, and typical turnaround is one day (2–3 days standard). Street piles are usually cleared, spread, and swept before the HOA letter escalates.
Can you spread rock in a backyard with a narrow gate?
Yes. Our compact skid steer fits through a standard side gate, so backyards get machine spreading without tearing out fence panels. If your gate is unusually narrow, include it in your photo text and we’ll confirm before we schedule.
What if I under-ordered or over-ordered material?
We work with what’s there. If you’re short, we grade what you have evenly and tell you approximately how many more tons finish the job — we can arrange the extra delivery. If you over-ordered, we can spread the surplus as a thicker layer where you want it or haul the excess off with our dump trailer.
Do you rake around existing plants and cactus?
Yes. The skid steer handles the open runs, then we hand-rake around cactus, agave, trees, irrigation emitters, and borders so plants aren’t buried and pads aren’t scratched. Marking sprinkler heads before we arrive helps.
Is there anything you can’t spread?
Very little. We spread landscape rock of all sizes, decomposed granite, dirt, topsoil, fill, and mulch. Large boulders are placed individually rather than spread, and wet, contaminated, or concrete-mixed material may need removal instead — send a photo and we’ll tell you straight.
Do I need to be home while you spread?
No. As long as gates are unlocked, cars are off the driveway, and sprinkler heads are marked, most customers are at work while we spread. We text before, during if questions come up, and send finished photos after.
